Clapton
The Autobiography
by Eric Clapton
This book, written by Eric Clapton was an honest and most-likely healing book for him. Although there were many rumors, and whispers, about Clapton and his life-he sets them all straight in this book. He takes us through a journey from growing up and feeling lost to the accomplished yet shy guitar player today. He tells us about finding out about his "adoption" and all the way through the loss of his very own son Connor. His portrayal of extreme loss and numb feelings that finally culminated in the writing of a deeply emotional song "Tears in heaven" continues to touch us all.
He tells us of his drug abuse and alcohol abuse, and even his womanizing. His self-doubts and his addictive behaviors that kept him away from what he calls superstardom. He comes full circle from the "tea parties" he had while jamming with famous rock superstars. And how those tea parties consisted more than just tea and lemon! He fulfills a life-long dream after finally finding sobriety in going to several sessions of rehab. to going "cold turkey" to finally opening his own rehab. center to help others.
He tells of the passing of several of his close friends and rockers, and how his heart was where the blues were. Clapton continues to tell us, that he wanted to be a rocker who wanted to give his audience himself not just tunes cranked out-he wanted to show his deeper side. That's where he felt his real self was.
He has finally settled down now and considers himself a family man who is deply in love with his wife and his children. He still consideres sobriety to be his first love, because he has to. He swears he will never slip back and if he continues to help others, he thinks he can stay in the game.
Today Eric Clapton is still deeply involved in producing music that he calls "pure" and he is glad music always finds its way back to him.
Thanks Eric Claptonfor letting us all know about your life in a raw and honest way~
Marley & Me By John Grogan
Are you a dog lover? Do you love Retrievers? Or do you just love feel-good stories? This book was cute as it takes us through the life of author John Grogan. From his newly wed life, and the acceptance of a very unruley dog they named Marley after, who else? Bob Marley. Enjoy the fun that the family encounters through tugging at the heart strings of the reader. He continues to take you through the damage he inflicts on himself and the houses they lived in. You become emotionally tied to Marley immediately. You feel like you could be part of the Grogan family. Feeling the loss of their first baby with them and how Marley interacts with Jenny Grogan's wife. You feel that Marley just can'thelp himself. He is a free spirit and the auth John is completely in love with him as most of us are with our children. I reccommend this book if you are looking for a good well-rounded story. This book will have you traverse through feelings, of joy, happiness, and even sadness.

The Alchemist By Paulo Coelho. This author was born in Rio deJaneiro, Brazil. His father was an engineer and his mother a homemaker. Paulo wanted to have some type of artisic career. He was born in a very strict family and middle-class people did no such things. By the time Paulo was seventeen years old he knew he wanted to be a writer, that is when his father determined that Paulo must be mentally deficient and had his son committed. He twice endured "electroconvulsive therapy"! As his life went on he went through several transitions, but he never gave up his passion. He continued to press forward always growing and learning. And finally he published several grand books.
REVIEW
The Alchemist
This book has a wonderful feel, it was originally written in Portuguese and then translated into English. The author Paulo Coelho as mentioned above has led an extremely colorful life. His life was not all happiness, but with continued struggle he endured and never gave up on his own personal passion. His written words in this book have a wonderful feel. He penned a beautiful, well written story. And this book in any language gives hope to those who dream. The story takes a shepherd boy from child to man. It is mostly set in the dessert. Where he will encounter several "bigger than life" characters. The story continues to infuse hints of religion and is rich in symbolism. The boy is transported from past, to present, and is shown glimpses of the future. The story continues to show the shepherd boy ways to listen to his heart by using all of his senses, his environment, and his dreams. He believed in his own personal legend, and he found that it was always inside him.
I recommend this book. It was an easy, feel good book to read. It was descriptive and placed the reader in a position of hope for their own lives. *****
